I think the dr. removed too much skin when he recircumcised my 14 month old son.?

my son was circumcised when he was 1 day old.Not enough skin was removed. The skin was still attached over halfway down the head of his penis. It could not be pulled back. The pediatrition kept saying he was fine. My husband and I took our son to a urologist and he suggested that our son should be recircumcised. He was recircumcised 1 month ago at 14 months. Now im worried that this dr. removed too much skin. There is only a small amount of loose skin on the top side of his penis when soft. there is no loose skin on the bootom side of his penis when soft(the part toward his scrotum).Where is the skin going to come from when he has an erection? Is this going to cause him problems when he has an erection? Is this going to make him uncomfortable? Also, he has crosshatch marks or bumps from the stitches. Will these smooth out? Of course i asked the dr. these questions already. The answer: he will be fine. Is the dr. right? Im afraid I made a mistake having him recircumcised. Please HELP.

We had our son recircumcised at around that same age, because he had too much loose skin, as a result of swelling after the first circumcision.

He also had crosshatch marks, and they went away.

As for the extra skin -- well, we wanted to get rid of extra skin, so we did not think about whether there was too little afterwards... Still, I think that if there is not enough skin, the skin will stretch and grow with the kid. I would not worry about it.

On the other hand, I would not trust the doctor -- of course he would not admit to having made a mistake. Like I said, I would not be concerned, but if you are, then you should ask a different doctor.

-----------Additional info------------

The marks looked exactly as you described: like a series of bumps along the stitch line. Neither my husband nor I remember how long it took for them to disappear.

Unfortunately, that's all we really remember (aside from being very nervous about the whole thing!)

go to another doctor, and if you have to, even another one.
Reply:My doctor has said that they leave some extra skin, and that the whole circumcision process is an art, every doctor does it differently.

I ask my doctor every time I go about it, but he keeps re-assuring me that the circumcision is fine.

I also was told to push down on the skin and clean and wipe off the white skin looking stuff, and eventually it will look completely normal.
Reply:I would see another Dr. to be safe! Best of luck...pass your story on...maybe it wont happen to another child. Poor thing...
