What lotion to use for very dry skin?

I have a very dry skin and it starts itching. I do drink plenty of water. I tried applying Revlon Aquamarine lotion just after bath. I tried Vaseline Intensive care lotion too. But by the end of the day, my skin still remains dry. The skin is dry all over the body totally. Please recommend ;

a). Daytime lotion

b). Night time lotion

both for very dry skin. And, do enlighten as to whether water based lotion is good or greasy lotion is good, because, i feel very uncomfortable when the lotion is greasy and when people see, it appears as if I had dipped myself in a tub of oil.

Also, when I apply oil during night, and then take bath the next day, my skin becomes much more dry. I cant understand why! Any moisturising soap like Dove also makes my skin drier than when I use any other normal soap.! Please let me know products which I can get in India.

there are lots of factors that can rob moisture out of your skin like humidity, dry air and too much exposure to cold and hot weather. you can combat dry skin using an all natural skin care product to keep the skin moist all dry.

good nutrition and proper diet as well as healthy habits can keep the skin young looking and healthy. compliment with enough rest and sleep as well as, exercise and relaxation.

avoid smoking and alcohol for these can not only cause dry skin but skin aging as well. visit http://www.skinsosilky.com for more tips about good skin care.

you should find a spray lotion for after shower http://www.h2oplus.com/retail2002/produc...

this one works extremely well. then eucerin works very well too and can be found at a local food store or drug store whereas H2O plus one u may have to order online

i hope this helped
Reply:Ok, well I had some good recommendations, until the "India" part, because I don't know if you can get them there. But here goes...Wal-Mart sells something called body butter, made by "SpaResource", and it comes in really nice scents (tangerine, nut butter, etc.), it's inexpensive, and works really well for my skin. I choose the "body butter" over the lotion in the winter, only because my skin is drier in the winter. You could also try The Body Shop for similar products, but they will be more expensive. Wal-Mart (and drugstores) sells something called "Cetaphil", a lotion, which is also very good for the skin. When you shower/bathe, try not to use hot water, that just makes your skin drier. I use shower gels for the shower, which I find easier on the skin. I still use the body butters after, though. FYI, Dove always makes my skin feel dry too. Hope some of that helps! : )
Reply:Cocoa butter is great moisturerizer to help dryness. Eucerin moisturizer is another. You should be using moisterizers instead of lotions, they have perfume in them and can dry your skin out terribly. Suave also have moisturizers. I would stay away from any of them that leave your skin oily, because it can pimples and it is not doing anything if it takes time to soak into your skin.

You might be taking too much of the natural oils out of your body.You can try to use a soft soap that has no perfumes in it.

Aveeno has a nice moisturizer as well. Curel also has a nice one too.

Read the labe and as long as it says moisturizer it should do ok with your skin.

Good Luck with choosing a moisturizer.
Reply:Try buying a skincare set. arbonne offers a variety of sets for different skin types. You can try their intelligence line or their NutrimincRE9 line they may help.
