Recommendations for skin treatment--some red marks from old pimples and occassional breakouts?

Recently, I went to see a dermatologist because i am unhappy about the condition of my skin.. I only get occasional breakouts -- maybe 1 or 2 pimples.. However, I have some red marks on my Tzone from either old pimples, or irritation.. They are NOT pimples.. My dermatologist prescribed a combination of Duac and Retin A Micro.. Since my skin isn't really oily or anything, this is doing a real number on it.. It's dry, red, peeling, and hurts! This is not what I wanted at all.. Can anyone suggest something that they are using for similar skin, before I give him a call? Basically, i am trying to even out my skintone, without overly drying my face.. I really don't have the kind of acne that would need these drying medicines.. Please help!!

Try the Neutrogena treatment...it comes in a box and has a face wash and a night and day cream. It has worked wonders for me. I LOVE IT!

a really good oil free moisturizer combined with a few microdermabrasion treatments will fade the red spots without drying out your skin. For the moisturizer, try Neutrogena or Cetaphil. They are both dermatologist tested and have consistently been given excellent ratings in magazines and consumer reports. Professional microdermabrasion treatments are obsenely expensive. You are better off buying the kits at the drug store. L'Oreal and Neutrogena both have come out with kits. Just follow the directions and don't do it too often or you will irritate your skin. That is the best way to get rid of scarring. Also, wear sunscreen all the time! It is the best way to prevent further damage.
Reply:I have a customer who has this problem. It sounds like you need some sort of skin care regimen. Like a cleanser, a moisturizer and all that. I'm 25 and I use Avon's Anew Retroactive. I used to get like 1 or 2 pimples and of course when you never get them they really stand out when you do get them. But since I've been using this (2 years now) I've not had any problems. If you want you can read about it on my website (www.youravon.com/ kapricewilliams) *no spaces* And just go under skin care. You can order online and have avon ship it to you. HTH - Kaprice! If you have any questions, just email me. :o)
Reply:Oooh, try Proactiv! It's a pack of cleanser, toner, and moisterizer, and it's an As-Seen-On-TV type thing, but it's totally worth it! My mom uses it, and she's like SO close to perfect skin! You should see the commercials for those. Amazing recovery stories because of Proactiv. I highly reccomend it, and I've never seen a negetive reaction to it before. So what do you have to lose?
Reply:So many answers and here's another.

You're right, those red blotches are from previous breakouts. The description how you're skin looks, tells me that, you're having now what's called: OVER PROCESSED SKIN, it's time for you to find a milder skincare regime, to get that problem under controll.

Regarding the redness, at advanced Skincare Salons, it's possible for you to have, what's called: " COLD, BLUE LIGHT" treatments, over time, the redness will disappear and also clear up any breakouts.
