Astrigents are the oldest skin cleansing method around. It's great for quick make up removal. I removes oil, dirt and makeup from the face. It contains alcohol so you can't remove eye makeup with it and if you have sensitive skin you might want to stick to soap and water. It cleans your pores very well and kills bacteria to prevent blemishes. I use it all the time when I come home late and I don't want to wash my make up off I just damp a cotton pad with astrigent and voula!

Reply:A skin astrigent is a deep pore cleaner. Alot of skin astrigents contain Witch Hazel and Alchohol. (About 86% W.Hazel, and 14% Alcohol.) If your skin is easily irritated by the drying effects of Alcohol, a good cleanser like Witch Hazel is heaven sent.


Astrigents can also be used for minor skin irritations such as insect bites and minor scrapes.
