Removing large skin tag?

Ever since I can remember (i'm in my early 20s now) I have had a fleshy piece of tissue on my left labia which (i know it sounds strange but the only way i can describe it) is skin-coloured but the shape of a twiglet or nik-nak, maybe about 0.5 cm in diameter and about 1.5 cm long. It doesn't irritate me or hurt but is really embarrassing as i'm conscious of it when i'm intimate with my partner. I was looking it up today and realised that it must be what people call a skin tag- but i guess just quite a large one? I have tied a piece of thread around it quite tight and it feels quite sensetive now and has gotten bigger and redder (i guess because of the blood flow being hard it's swollen). I'm just wondering how how long it will take before it falls off, and whether anybody has ever removed a large skin tag like this? I am waaay too embarrassed to see my GP about this as it's a guy and he is married to my old school teacher. Also being a student means can't afford private treatment.

Well...I once removed a mole from my face. Got sick and tired of it so one day I soaked a pair of nail clippers in hydrogen peroxide and clipped the thing off! It bled like crazy, but only looks like a freckle today and didn't hurt too much. I know of a girl who accidentally shaved off some skin tags on her legs and they look better than the ones the plastic surgeon removed! It's up to you. I'd nail nip the sucker! Of course we're talking about your labia here so....

Take the string off you can really hurt yourself and cause an infection - for a few reasons especially the area.





The only way to ever remove skin tags, moles etc is a doctor.


So until you can see an OB about this and afford it I'd put it out of your mind - tags of any nature are vascular and could cause a lot of damage.. let alone the area you have your '?' is full of germs and could cause an infection.
