I have ugly skin & losing my self-esteem, please help!?

I have blackheads around my cheeks, dark skin w/ pimples on my chin, uneven skin tone %26amp; acne on my forehead, along with zits everywhere, and everything! I get made fun of everyday...and my confidence is going lower %26amp; lower.

Please recommend some products that I can buy in drug stores to improve my skin. What are some good foods for your skin? I want to get rid of this curse in about 2 months. I`ve already went to a dermatologist for advice and nothing as helped.

KIM!

I AM WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO FOLLOW MY ADVICE FIRST!

-Do not use any products recommended by anyone on this board BEFORE you go to www.cosmeticscop.com and educate yourself on what works and what doesn't. The creator of the site is Paula Begoun and she has been writing reviews of products for more than a decade and has created her own line within the past few years. I'm not encouraging you to buy her products (although they are quite good), but I want you read all the information she has on there about taking care of your skin and what will work best for YOU. The products recommended here may have worked for others, but that does not mean it will work for you. I've tried Neutrogena, Proactiv, Clinique, etc. and they all sucked.

EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST! This way you can wade through all the BS.

You are welcome!! Spread the word Report It

Reply:I wash my face twice a day with regular soap and water and I have clear skin and I've never had acne.
Reply:My miracle worker was Pro-active solution. it's like $40 or so for 4 pieces, but it really, really works!
Reply:I dont really know of a lot of products, but youve said youve been to a dermatologist for advice...did he DO anything?

I broke out my first time in sixth grade, went to the dermatologist one time and had a laser treatment and took some pills for about a month and I never get a zit after that (I am now a sophomore in college)...if I do its small and is only there for a day...seriously.

I would search for recommended dermatologists in your area....in my opinion that is the only way to completely alleviate the problem.
Reply:use proactive!!!!!!!!!!! it really works! no lie. or for something a bit cheaper, try clearasil ultra!!!!!! that works too! they arent one of those product that lies and makes you break out more. it works and cleared up my face in a week. seriously, try it. it was the only products that worked for me.

as far as food goes...lay OFF the junk food and soda. they make you break out alot.

eat healthy, wash your face everyday, and use what product work for you, and your skin will inprove

good luck! hope this helps!
Reply:I totally sympathize because I had terrible skin when I was a teenager and it really is bad for your self esteem. I went to a few different dermatologists before I found a good one - so keep trying and also do know that eventually it will improve as you get older.

In the meantime, I would really look into ProActiv solution if you can. A lot of times you can find it on Ebay for cheaper than ordering it online. It is a really nice skincare system and even though it's pricey it will last you a long time. If you really and truly can't afford the investment, I recommend Neutrogena products from the drugstore. Get a fresh foaming cleanser, one of their moisturizers and the toner, try to get alcohol free. You want to cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Pull your hair back at night and make sure you change your pillowcase each week to avoid gunk getting on your face from your hair. Avoid touching your face as much as possible and clean your cell phone and home phone often with anti-bacterial wipes, too. For blackheads I really like Biore pore strips but they can irritate some people's skin, so you need to be careful.

Good luck!
Reply:wash ur face
Reply:i know how you feel, i used to have the same problem

i would recommend the new neutrogena acne solution, they give you three amazing products, for only like 20 bucks at wal-mart or target, and i think it works way beter than proactive, plus it's less expensive, if you can't get that try OKY brand, it also worked for me, anothre way to help ur skin is to drink LOTS of water, don't put too much makeup on, it makes ur skin very oily, be patient and eat a balanced diet!
Reply:for the acne and black heads, don't buy proactive. It doesn't work! But instead, go to walmart or kmart and buy acnefree. It's sort of like proactive, but it'll clear the easy pimples. For the hard to get rid of acne, buy some clean and clear 8 hour. they're pads that you wipe on your face about 2 times daily, and it begins to remove acne in 8 hours. For the uneven skin tone, use foundation and in those dark spots, use alot. There's nothing you can really do, unless you tan your face to match the patches.

Eatting bananas and watermelon are good for your face, but everyonce in a while, buy a lemon and a pinapple and rub them on your face. The lemon cleans out the pores, and the pinapple exfoliates it. Oranges work nice too. You can use oatmeal with honey to help out too.
Reply:ask your dermatologist about tetracycline, it's a really cheap pill

it really worked for me
Reply:FIRST TO LOSE SOME BLACKHEADS and have great

smooth skin, you have wash your face with clear and clear

morning burst, and than right after while your face is still

wet, you can put on some MARIA GALLAND PARIS

HYDRATING LOTION , and than right after put on clinque

moisture in control(the bottle is green), than when you

come home after you go you wash your face with clean

and clear oxygenating facial scrub and again put on maria

galland and clinque moisture in control.

To get RID OF PIMPLES, everyday put you hair AWAY

from your face, who cares that your pimples are showing

soon they will go away and ALWAYS WIPE AWAY YOUR

SWEAT when you do, just right after your sweat or else

you will get more, and everyday just before sleeping put

on some tea tree oil from i think bath and body works and

the uneven skin tone if you keeep washing your face, it

will get a bit better, i have a bit, it will not go away but it

can fade into your skin tone just a bit if you keep washing

improve your skin, eat salads with not too oily meat, eat

lots of vegetables but be sure to get some meat but not oil,

DO NOT EAT CHIPS , it will just ruin everything and you

will get pimples again, also the girl that said that you cant

get pimples from chips, sodas and candy, but IT DOES.

you can eat ice cream but just dont eat that much thats all

the advice i can give you for now
Reply:Work foods like oatmeal\cheerios into your diet. Stay away from greasy foods and soda. If you put grease into your body it can make your skin oily. Lean meats and lots of veggies. Take a multi-vitamin and a vitamin E tablet in the morning. Wash your face in the morning and in the evening and if you can work it in, wash it at mid-day.
Reply:if u have to where make up no fondation or blush it clogs ur pores then get burts bees parsley blemish stick it well sized 8 dollers and is awsum aplie it befor u go to sleep and when u wake up and by at tops 3 days ist gone so coppy and past this in the address bar to find it http://www.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stor... or go to wild oats or ulta or and other make up store where u live hope i helped luv
Reply:Okay, I can be called zitzilla, but one of my (many) cousins has this homemade mix that really does work. Mix like one parrt honey and one part rubbing alcohol. Smells funny, but it's more effective than anything sold. If your skin is really bad, put it on like every other day.

And another thing, please ignore those other people. More likely than not, they probably have a lower self esteem than you and resotrted to teasing others to raise theirs...
Reply:nothing is better than pro active
Reply:use proactive it really works. dont eat chocolate and sugar b/c it gives your skin pimples and zits.
Reply:I haven't tried proactive, but I hear it's good. I like clearasil, I apply at night and also apply silcyistic(sp?) acid 2 times a day. Try and relax, stress can cause breakouts too! You can also ask your regular doctor to prescribe you something. Maybe read some books on inner beauty to help self confidence! Best wishes!
Reply:Garnier has a new line of skin care products out. I highly recommend their gell cleanser. It cleans your skin without drying it out. I would also recommend using their moisturizer with this, no matter how oily your skin is. Moisturizing can actually help decrease oil production. If you wear makeup, try Physician's formula. That stuff doesn't clog your pores and is hyperallergenic. I've struggled with acne myself.

Edit: And I agree... the Burt's Bees Blemish stick works wonders. I forgot about that.
Reply:I have an brother who takes pills for his acne condition.Ask your doctor about pills you can take. His face looks better after taking the those pills.

I also have ace -prone skin and this is some of the things I usually do to control my acne problem

1. in the morning i wash my face with Dove beauty bar, or some kind of face wash

2.I use Sea Breeze Astringent- for sensitive skin

3.I use some pimple cream with benzoyl peroxide 2.5% or a little higher on my pimples.using benzoyl peroxide- in a much higher level is not good for you.

4. rubbing cut garlic on your pimple helps.

5.I repeat steps 1-3 before I go to sleep at night.

6. sometimes I take some clay mask and put them on my pimple-it hepls!

7. when my face gets too oily I put clay mask on my enitire face.I use Freeman's totally Juicy Crackle Clay Masque

8.I had used Nature's cure for females and it is a good prdouct. http://www.naturescure.com/

9. use some aloe vera gel for acne scars and brown spots from old acne

10. I usally have microdermabrasion - you can get microdermabrasion towels/cloths

11. when I get stressed I get pimple(s) so I try to take it easy

if you want you can also pray. It does not hurt to pray
Reply:well, first thing's first.

go back to your dermatologist, or find a new one.

ask them to PRESCRIBE you something.

i don't know why they wouldn't.

anyway, until you can get there, here's a few good products that have worked well for me that you can buy at drugstores:

Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub,

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub,

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Oil-Control Foaming Cleanser, which is my personal favorite.

Also, if you use makeup try to replace it with tinted acne lotion, like:

OXY Tinted Maximum Strength Lotion

if want aren't into spending a lot of money, i included a link to a page that has home remedy solutions, a few i've tried. the ones that work best are the pastes that you let soak into your skin.

...and i have to agree the the burt's bees blemish stick is great.

In addition to these treatments, don't touch your face a lot. your fingers carry acne-causing bacteria from one area to another.

I really hope i helped, dear. good luck! :]
Reply:something you can buy in drugstores, Noxzema works well so does neutregena, if you know someone that sales Avon their clear-skin products are really good and inexpensive. make sure you wash your face good before bed and to double check that use a cotton ball soaked in something like the Noxzema anti- blemish astringent, also wash your pillowcase often.
Reply:Get some vitamin A. Vitamin A is known to be excellent for your skin... also, drink plenty of green tea.

Make sure you exfoliate your skin as well, and wash it 2 times daily. Morning, and at night. When you wash it in the morning only, apply moisturizer afterwards. You may also want to get wet pads for your face to use throughout the day to keep as much bacteria off your skin as possible.

That's all I can really suggest since I don't know how your skin is... if it's dry, combination, or oily. You have to always try to find products and come up with a daily routine that will level out your skin.

But no matter what you do, keep a positive attitude! That's the most important thing for healthy skin, and an overall healthy body.

Good luck!
Reply:I also had really bad skin, until about a month ago. I'd tried benzoyl peroxide wash, Proactiv, and all sorts of facial cleansers. But I went to my doctor, and she gave me this product called BenzaClin. It's super easy; I just wash my face at night, dry, and dab it on my problem spots. I haven't had a pimple since the day I started using it. Ask your dermatologist about it...it really helped my skin.
Reply:What I am recommending can't be bought in a drugstore, but IT DOES WORK. I am recommending Acne Treatment Gel, Mary Kay's Velocity Facial Cleanser(use 2x daily), and Timewise Microdermabrasion Set. All of these products are by Mary Kay cosmetics. If you would like to receive more information about these products, then go to my 360 page and click on my blast-it will route you to my website. God Bless you.
Reply:I know how you feel. I'm 28 and still get them-BAD. I have been to two dermatologists. The last one that I went to prescribed an antibiotic called Minocycline-which I found out that I was allergic to-so that didn't work. I've tried just about everything over the counter and no luck. Benzoil Peroxide works better for me than Salicylic Acid does. I really want to try Proactiv but I'm scared because nothing else has worked and I really don't want to waste my time or money on another piece of crap that promises the world. By the way research has shown that many years back chocolate, sodas, chips and sweets do NOT cause acne. I noticed that just about everyone mentioned that on here.
